Corrupted Veil wants to drag you into the mud. Literally. This co-op first-person shooter mixes the wave-survival formula of CoD: Zombies with the fast, loud attitude of old-school boomer shooters, and it's now looking for players to help test it through an open beta.
The pitch is simple, and honestly a little grim. The trenches of western Europe have gone bad. Something has gotten into the soldiers stationed there, and whatever it is, it isn't friendly. Throw in some sinister German experiments, and you have a setting that feels like a history lesson that took a very wrong turn.
Greed & Darkness is the kind of game that makes you nervous about your own light source. It's a retro-style dungeon crawler, and a beta demo is now up on Steam for anyone willing to wander a cursed fortress with a torch, a sword arm and a serious case of treasure fever.
The setting is the Gorge Fortress, a sprawling underground complex where the goal sounds simple enough: grab as much loot as you can, then get out alive. Hand-drawn 2D animations bring the place to life, and the whole thing leans hard into atmosphere. Alpha Beta Gamer, which highlighted the demo, came away clearly won over. It called Greed & Darkness a great game and described it as dungeon crawling "at its absolute darkest and finest."
Deadpact starts with a simple deal. You're a prisoner, you've been condemned, and someone is offering you one last shot at walking free. The catch is that freedom sits somewhere at the bottom of a very dark place, and a lot of things down there would prefer you never make it back up.
A beta demo for this story-driven survival horror puzzle game is now available on Steam. Based on what's been shared so far, it looks like the kind of game that wants you uncomfortable, careful, and a little paranoid about every noise.
One Last Chance
The premise does a lot of work quickly. You're not a hero or a soldier. You're someone the world has already written off, and that framing makes the whole descent feel like a gamble from the first step.
Void Lancer, from developer Snow-G, is a new Commodore 64 shooter on itch.io, and it is not going for cute. It is a biomechanical horizontal shoot 'em up that borrows heavily from the art of H. R. Giger, the Swiss artist behind the look of the Alien films. You get ribbed tubes, egg chambers and bone cathedrals, all squeezed onto an 8-bit machine from the early eighties.
The folks over at IndieRetroNews called it "a rather decent" shooter. From the feature list alone, it looks like Snow-G was aiming much higher than decent.
Doctrineers is a turn-based strategy game that wants to move quickly. It also wants every match to feel different from the last one. That's a big promise for the genre, and the developers are backing it up with two ideas: a bidding system and a set of special "doctrinal" units. A playtest is now open for sign-ups, so strategy fans can go see whether it holds up.
The pitch is simple. Turn-based wargames can drag, and they can get predictable once everyone learns the best openings. Doctrineers says it is aiming for "fast gameplay and strategic variety," with no two matches unfolding the same way.
