Clumsy Claws Beta Sign-Ups: Co-op Wagon Party Chaos
Some co-op games want you to save the world. Clumsy Claws just wants you and your friends to get a wagon from one end of the trail to the other without anyone falling into a hole. Judging by the pitch, that will be harder than it sounds.
Clumsy Claws is a physics-based co-op party game built around one very important piece of furniture: a wagon. Beta sign-ups are now open, so anyone curious can put their name down.
Home Is Where the Wagon Is
The wagon is the heart of everything here. It works as your home away from home. You use it to activate checkpoints and store the loot you pick up. It also gives rides to whichever teammate has decided that walking is optional today.
The catch is that this is not a magic floating cart. It has actual weight, actual wheels and actual momentum. Anyone who has wrestled with physics-driven objects in a party game knows where this is going. A heavy cart on a slope with four people pulling in different directions is a recipe for comedy, or for a long silence over voice chat.
I can already picture a group arguing about who let go first.
From Hometown to Finale
A run starts in the hometown. This is where you gather with your friends and customize your character before setting off. From there, the trail is split into a few distinct types of stops:
- Wagonruns, the stretches where you haul the cart along the path
- Minigames, which break up the journey with chaotic little challenges
- Pitstops, breaks along the route
- A grand Finale at the end of the trip
The basic loop is simple: loot up and get out. Along the way you have to dodge goats, gaps and, as the developers put it, questionable party members. Goats as an obstacle category is a strong choice. I respect it.
The coins you earn on a trip go into upgrades and riddles. Those unlock new expeditions, so there is some sense of progression between sessions rather than a pile of disconnected rounds.
How to Join the Beta
Signing up is easy. Head to the game's sign-up page and click "Request Access" to get in line for the beta. No beta dates or player limits have been announced, so it is worth signing up early if the idea of shared wagon disasters appeals to you.
If you have been following co-op titles that turn simple chores into group chaos, like the snow-shoveling of Clear the Snow, Clumsy Claws seems to be in very similar company.
Our Take
Clumsy Claws is pulling from a familiar recipe. Physics-heavy co-op games have built a solid niche on the idea that clumsy controls are a feature, not a bug, as long as friends are there to laugh about it. Putting a single shared object at the center, one that everyone depends on and anyone can mess up, is a smart way to force teamwork and blame in equal measure.
What stands out is the structure. Mixing Wagonruns with Minigames, Pitstops and a Finale suggests the developers want each trip to feel like a full party night with some variety, not just one repeated task. The upgrade and riddle system for unlocking expeditions could give groups a reason to come back, which party games often struggle with.
The big question is how the wagon physics actually feel in hands-on play. There is a thin line between "funny chaos" and "frustrating chaos." It is worth watching whether the beta shows enough variety in the expeditions, and whether the minigames stand on their own. For relaxed groups looking for a silly co-op night, this one is worth a sign-up, and we will be keen to see how it shapes up, much like other recent party chaos such as the eight-player ER mayhem of Vital Decisions.
